NLP Personal Growth Coaching Enhances Happiness

NLP Personal Growth Coaching

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) personal growth coaching is used by a variety of people and professions to enhance an assortment of daily life characteristics such as improving sales, increasing confidence, boosting self-esteem, learning better rapport techniques, building better relationships and more, but the overall and probably greatest achievement, whether specifically sought after or not, is an increase in their overall happiness. This far-reaching and positive snowball effect transpires into greater and greater potential for individuals learning, practicing and teaching NLP techniques with successes and gains in one area affecting more successes in other areas, namely happiness.

NLP Begets Confidence Begets Charisma Begets …

I know, it sounds like a genealogy of antiquity or biblical literature, nevertheless the analogy holds fast, that boosts in achievement in one area effectively have positive affects others; for example, a boost in one’s ability to establish great rapport with clients or customers will undoubtedly have a positive influence on a desired outcome, and the process continues into other aspects and realms. Undertaking NLP training and learning the NLP techniques and practicing the NLP disciplines is undertaken for a variety of reasons, but probably the greatest outcome regardless of preconceived goals is the realization that NLP enhances happiness.

NLP Personal Growth Snowball Effect

While it is easy to see a “domino effect” as one thing leads to other, that has a connotation that implies a sequential order to things; a leads to b, etc. While that is true in many cases, “snowball effect” is honestly more accurate, as many occurrences happen as a result or action of another, but not necessarily one after the other, in a particular order, or one at a time. Remember in our earlier article with a succinct definition of NLP that neuro-linguistic programming does not focus solely on one aspect or any one of the senses and in that regard, when students learn NLP techniques, a whole range of possibilities become available through awareness and discipline all the areas. As previously stated, many clients come seeking NLP training for personal growth in a particular part of their life or profession, but the techniques learned lead to understanding, awareness and abilities far beyond that for which they originally came. We don’t necessarily hide that fact, but it’s always a wonderful experience to witness and hear from a client when this realization of how NLP coaching for their personal growth in one desired area truly leads to an increase in their overall happiness, success and satisfaction in life.

There is Only How

Finding NLP Training Designed for You

A lot of different people provide NLP Training and, outside of the core requirements set up by their certifying body for NLP Training, there’s a lot of leeway in how the training is taught.

Here are a few things to think about when you’re considering learning Neuro-Linguistic Programming or NLP Training.

Weekend Classes vs. “Intensive” Seminars

NLP trainings are usually held over a number of consecutive days (intensives) or over several consecutive weekends.  There are pros and cons to each format.

Intensives: Traditionally, NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner seminars are taught as a week-long (give or take a day) training event, with each day full of instruction and hands-on exercise.

Pro: You get an intense learning experience and a greater opportunity to network with your fellow delegates. You get to compound and build upon what you’ve already learned each and every day.

Con: You’re dedicating a whole week to discovering things you’ll wish you knew years ago. That’s actually a good thing, although some people hesitate to take a week away from work to do it.

Some NLP Training seminars are held over a number of consecutive weekends.  You can work all week and then attend the training on the weekends.

Pro: You don’t have to take any time away from work or school.

Con: Many delegates find that they have a hard time remembering what they’ve already been taught from one weekend to the next. Unless you have unlimited funds and can fly back and forth every week, you’ll probably be limited to attending a training that’s fairly close to you.

Live NLP Training vs. Home Study

Live NLP Training: Trainers around the world offer NLP training or seminars throughout the year, everywhere from big cities to rural retreats.

Pro: Easy to focus on learning because you’re with others who are there to learn.  Feedback from the instructor and fellow students.  Confidence is gained from doing the exercises and knowing you’ve learned new skills.  Can earn certification from Society of NLP and Richard Bandler.

Con:  Need to coordinate your schedule with that of the trainer you’ve selected to work with (can you get vacation when he/she is teaching the next class).  May have to do a bit of shopping to find the best deal on travel and accommodations if you’re training out of town.

Home Study: There are many NLP home-study courses available.  These are either delivered via the web or come on CD and/or DVD, usually with a manual.

Pro:  Cheaper.  No travel costs.  Costs less than a live training.  Can be done on your schedule, whenever you’re ready to start.

Con:  Requires that you take time away from what you’re already doing.  No real-time feedback from the instructor or other students.  No experience gained in actually using the skills. No certification possible with the Society of NLP.

Class Size

Some NLP trainers fill entire ballrooms with as many as four hundred students at a time.  Others teach classes of ten and fewer.

Huge Class:

Pro: Probably taught by someone really famous in the field of NLP.  Many different students to do exercises with, so you get a wide range of experience.

Con: Probably won’t get to spend much, if any, time with your famous instructor.  Most exercises will be moderated by assistant trainers who may or may not have observed the thing you have a question about.  Very rigid class format necessary to keep class manageable.

Smaller Class:

Pro:  More “face time” with instructor.  More flexibility to meet the needs of the students who are at that particular seminar.  Instructor is able to oversee all of the exercises and make adjustments as needed.  Opportunities to get to know your fellow delegates.

Con:  Smaller variety of individuals to practice with.

“Flavored vs. Plain”:  Particular Interests/Specialties of the Instructor

Different NLP trainers have different backgrounds and interests.  These can sometimes be reflected in the way their classes are presented.  There are NLP certification seminars with specific emphasis on business, education, metaphysics, clergy, seduction, politics, and more.

Let’s call any NLP training with a specific emphasis “flavored” and any that do not, “plain.”  Here are some things to consider:

“Flavored”:

Pro:  Material will be presented in a context you understand and appreciate; making is potentially easier to understand.  Most other students will share your interests and beliefs.

Con:  Specific focus may prevent you from developing the flexibility necessary to use what you learn in other contexts.  Focus may be so narrow as to require you to adopt the instructor’s belief system in order to do an exercise where your own, existing belief system would work just fine.

“Plain”:

Pro:  Techniques and strategies will be taught without dogma, allowing you to use them in whatever context you prefer.  Fellow delegates will come from a variety of backgrounds, making the training experience more varied and richer.

Con:  Fellow delegates will come from a variety of backgrounds, possibly requiring you to interact with people who believe quite different things than you.  You will have to think and figure out how to make use of some techniques and strategies in certain contexts, or actually interact with the trainer or your fellow delegates and ask for help.

If you discover that you have other questions about which training is right for you, call or email the trainer and ask.  If you can, talk to the trainer personally rather than an assistant or secretary, and ask your question.  Most trainers welcome the opportunity to help you decide if one course is better for you than another.
